Links to Other Girlymicro Blogs and Articles

I quite often get asked to write blogs or articles for different professional societies, or pieces linked to different projects I’m involved with. Here are some that I’ve done over the last few years:

Microbiology Society Interview

In this interview, I was asked to talk about bridging the gap between lab and ward staff, leading patient engagement and outreach activities.

I also discuss why I joined the Society and why I believe that microbiology matters to everyone.

Healthcare Infection Society Guest Blog

I was asked to write a blog for the Healthcare Infection Society to raise awareness within their membership of what Healthcare Scientists can contribute to infection prevention. Although I’ve worked in this area for over 10 years, there are still not many of us and so it’s crucial to talk about what value we add to teams that are, traditionally, made up of medics and nurses.

Blog for Camden People’s Theatre about Nosocomial

Nosocomial is a play about Healthcare Scientists and Infection. As part of the work in progress performances, I was asked to write a blog about the play and the process of combining science and art.

Infectious Diseases Hub Blog

Even within the scientific profession, many scientists have never heard of Healthcare Science. After all, I only became involved through sheer fluke: I didn’t know what it was when I applied for the job! I wrote this blog to try and raise awareness of Healthcare Science as a career for those who are currently studying undergraduate science. Raising awareness is key to recruiting people into this great profession.
